Hi All, I attended the NYLF: Medicine camp last year in the summer of 2017, and since I have received several questions regarding the details of this camp, I decided to create a post and share my experiences. The materials said it would be held at the University of Berkeley campusit wasnt. Today, Youth Leadership Consortium (YLC) Staff is prepping for the first Young Leaders Summit (YLS)! They are asking for a tuition of $1,700, which sounds awfully high. For my high school age daughter, we have found other camps that offer more hands on experiences than the NYLF. it's legitimately a program, but it's also a profit making enterprise, extremely expensive and not worth your while. She is already attending a local STEM camp and she has a full scholarship paid by her school. Their is an FAQ section for students on their main page. But the camp itself is not special so this cheapens the nomination process and exposes it for what it is: a marketing ploy to separate parents from their money. Well, the following week I received an e-mail from them, basically saying that we won 250 dollars for the program but I read the small print in the e-mail and said that actually we won only 125 dollars because my daughter would not be staying overnight, she would be commuting from home.
